ACCESS FM: Aims and Purpose

1) To provide a system for product analysis and product awareness
2) To give scored and reasoned existing design analysis using the “one, half, zero” rule.
3) To apply ACCESS FM when formulating Task Analysis and Specifications.
4) The use of ACCESS FM when evaluating existing and student’s products.

I will focus on each of these applications but also highlight products that are seen as “inspirational”, unearthing the finer details, the hidden nuances that make these items standout in the first place. There will be hand picked publications and resources for use in the classroom with descriptors of their relevance. I hope to site current trends or influences that are shaping product design today. A forum has been set up and I would love to hear from you and share your opinions, methods, successes, failures even, so we can learn from each other.
